| This August 15th 1859 Maine Railroad Corp receipt dates from before the Maine Centrals formation during the Civil War. If you lived in New England back in the post WWII era SS Pierce items showed up on the grocery shelves. As I recall their products were on the expensive side and of higher than average quality. A look in Wikipedia will prvide some back ground. The S.S.Pierce company was fromed in 1831 and eventually was sold to Seneca Foods of New Your in 1972.
