Huntingdon. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Nelson Bowers that was taken just East of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, on 11 January 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6815, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in June of 1959 after 33 years of service. It's pulling a merchandise freight train from Enola to Altoona and points West. A portion of US Route 22 ~ the "William Penn Highway" ~ is also visible. |
