WIL-ALT-65. Here is an original photo that I took during a trip on Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains from Wilmington to Altoona during August of 1965. Shown here is PRR engine #9406, an ES-6 built by EMD in 1950 and rated at 600 horsepower. Also visible (R to L) are: (1) engines #4843 and 4852 pulling an eastbound coal train; (2) engine #4916 awaiting movement orders; (3) Maintenance-of-Way tender #999400, filled with fuel oil for GG-1 steam-heat boilers; as well as engine #4900, which has just uncoupled from my westbound passenger train and is heading over to the Locomotive Ready Tracks for another eastbound run. |
