Description:  The engineer of Chicago & Eastern Illinois 2-8-2 Mikado #1915 takes a moment to pose for the camera of James Bowie. Built by Alco-Brooks, in September of 1912, it combined speed and power to make it one of the essential members of the roster for nearly 38 years of both passenger and freight service. The loco was finally sold for scrap to Erman-Howell Division of Luria Brothers in January of 1950. Original specs - serial #51860, N-1 class, 63" drivers, 175 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine weight of 300,000 lb, tractive effort of 55,533 lb. This is a James Bowie photo.
