Album Info:
A photo of GP20’s 5628-5625 commemorated the introduction of EMD’s second production turbocharged locomotive built in November, 1959. The caption on the photo includes “8000 H.P. General Purpose Locomotive Designed and Built by Electro-Motive Division of General Motors.” After demonstrator use, the GP20 quartet was delivered to Southern Pacific. A painting of GP30’s 5501, 5502, and 5510 for the Reading Company commemorated the introduction of EMD’s “First GP30 Locomotive” built in July, 1961. The caption on the painting includes “2250 H.P. General Purpose Locomotives Designed and Built by Electro-Motive Division of General Motors.”
