The H-Grand Forks-BRC Taking The Hole
Title:  The H-Grand Forks-BRC Taking The Hole
Description:  The crew of today's H-Grand Forks-BRC taking the hole while eastbound on the Wayzata sub have a very washed out-looking Dash-nine for the lead unit of a trio of GE's. They were going to meet a westbound here.

Rare Sight In Town These Days
Title:  Rare Sight In Town These Days
Description:  This is one of the few diamond crossings left in the Twin Cities: Where the CP's old MN&S mainline crosses the UP's Golden Valley industrial spur to Plymouth. The Luce Line trail extension to Theodore Wirth Park makes this spot accessible now to fans. It is just east of Douglas Drive in Golden Valley.

Crane Crossing 35W
Title:  Crane Crossing 35W
Description:  This crane was pushing a short MOW job of two small hoppers and an ex-BN caboose across 35W. I later saw it again from the Van Cleve park pedestrian bridge. Having re-crossed 35W to the U of M side of the line.

Wait And Wait Some More
Title:  Wait And Wait Some More
Description:  The crew aboard this eastbound freight waits and waits some more for the signals facing them to go from red to green as their train cools it's heels on the Wayzata sub's main track in Long Lake as traffic flows by on new Highway 12. Dig that ex-Con Agra ribside hopper in the right foreground, a very colorful freight car.

First Catch In Over A Month
Title:  First Catch In Over A Month
Description:  After a dry spell of over a month, I finally got back into the railfan swing of things when I spied this eastbound freight stopped for a red signal on the Wayzata sub in Long Lake. Had to climb up onto the embankment of the sound wall on the north side of new Highway 12 to get this portrait of the motive power.

Bound For A Red Signal
Title:  Bound For A Red Signal
Description:  Around the curve which starts beneath the Brown Road bridge in the distance a set of red signals awaits the crew of this eastbound manifest. They were stopped, however, for only a short duration before getting clearance to move again. It seems the trailing dash-nine is badly in need of a new coat of paint. Wonder when she will recieve one? Note the ex- CNW ribside hopper behind her.

Droppin' Downgrade
Title:  Droppin' Downgrade
Description:  The hogger on this eastbound freight glides his train downgrade from Orono into Long Lake on an early November Saturday that feels more like spring than fall. I especially like this view from the Willow Drive bridge for how it captures the grade and nearby curve in the background on this stretch of track.

Title:  Caliente, CA, Or Long Lake, MN?

Sittin' On The Track Named "Main"
Title:  Sittin' On The Track Named "Main"
Description:  A common occurence along the Wayzata sub in Long Lake is trains stopping on the main track on the other side of the sound wall bordering Orchard Lane on the south side of the New 12/BNSF corridor until it is clear to head on into Minneapolis. Such happened to be the case with this eastbound job today. The guy looking at me in the mini-van probably wondered: "Just what is that guy doing on that hill taking pictures of a train?"

BNSF 752 Roster Shot
Title:  BNSF 752 Roster Shot
Description:  Wish they didn't have to put those orange AC boxes into these units. Kind of spoils the pure Warbonnet effect.

Title:  But Wayzata Says This Is Grove Lane East
Description:  Barry Avenue starts across the street from here, so perhaps the BNSF is in error saying this is the "Barry Ave" crossing on the power box here. Regardless, the sign about no train horns is the chief reason I took this quiet portrait.

BNSF 1544 Roster View
Title:  BNSF 1544 Roster View
Description:  Dig that ex-NP unit. Amazing to see it still running for the second owner of a road merged in March of 1970.

BNSF 2973 Roster View
Title:  BNSF 2973 Roster View
Description:  Didn't have to crop this one like I did with the roster shot of lead unit 1544. Came out perfect as is!
